Bunk bed in the interior of the nursery

At the birth of the second, third child, the question arises - where will they sleep? Well, if the apartment is large enough, there is an opportunity to equip each not only a sleeping place, but also a personal "working" space. If you have to live in a standard socket, where a large family is always not enough space, you should consider the option of purchasing a two-story bed.

A bunk bed in the interior is always a significant saving of space for small-sized rooms that can be used for other purposes. In the children's free space, not occupied by furniture, at least 70% of the entire room is allocated. On how to choose the right configuration, materials, manufacturing, style of a bunk bed, more in the text below.

Bunk bed: how to choose?

When choosing a two-level bed always pay attention to the following criteria:

  • quality - the materials from which it is made must be durable, eco-friendly, preferably natural;
  • stability - when assembled, even minimal swaying amplitude of the structure is unacceptable. One of the children will not stay on the top shelf, will fall, will receive serious injuries;
  • practicality - this piece of furniture is chosen comfortable, ergonomic. With a comfortable frame, mattresses suitable for children's sleep;
  • certification - in the documents accompanying the product, must include detailed technical specifications, maximum height, weight of a person who can sleep on such a bed;

  • appearance - the furniture is chosen so that the children like it, the most consistent with the style of the nursery, if there has already been made repairs. Otherwise, the design of the premises will have to be "customized" under the purchased bed;
  • safety - it is above all. The ladder upwards should not be excessively slippery, ideally - to have a slope, rather thick, frequent steps. The upper tier is preferred with fall-proof sides. The presence of at least one handrail is welcome, which you can hold onto when going up;
  • smell - if the product is bad, unpleasant, it smells sharply, then you should not buy it. Over time, with a change in humidity, air temperature, the "fragrance" will only increase, and the evaporation of harmful substances can seriously disrupt the immunity of those who will sleep on such a bed.

When the layout is nonstandard, the room is narrow, then the position will be saved by the built-in two-story construction. It can be mounted in a niche, between two walls, etc.

Bed design

They differ in design, length, width of beds, the location of the stairs, the height of the floor, colors. The classical two-level is made of wood, has a simple form, a very modest decorative design. It is complemented by a real slide, a small sports corner with rings, swings, rope. When there are many children, and the height of the ceiling allows, the third floor is being made, but the construction in this case is firmly fixed to the wall. The construction is completely without legs, it is convenient for the smallest, but then you should choose a sufficiently thick mattress, think about additional floor heating.

Two hanging beds are attached directly to the wall, do not have legs. The ladder also fastens on a wall, represents ledges, niches. These beds are made in the closet foldable. Or the upper tier can be suspended, the lower one can stand on legs. The second "floor" is often hung from the ceiling, while attached to the wall. Many companies offer complex designs that combine two or three beds, a computer, a desk, a compact wardrobe, shelves, and more.

If the stores did not manage to find a model that is suitable for design, then it is made independently, to order, according to individual sizes, a sketch.

Hi-tech style

High-tech style is well suited for children's "for growth". Clean high-tech is acceptable for the boys room, the girls' bedroom interior is “diluted” with elements of Provence - with a small amount of light drapery in pastel colors. The cot, made in this style, will be partially or completely composed of shiny metal, have built-in chrome lamps. In general, the room will be multifunctional, almost all the furniture can be transformed. The colors are preferred silvery, beige, cream with the addition of black, red.

Romantic style

This design direction is ideal for the girls' room - an abundance of textiles, ryushechek, flounces, cute pads, animals in pastel colors. The bed itself can be made of wood, made of chipboard, made in bright colors, have smooth outlines, a small amount of decor in the form of painting with flowers, gradient tints. When making a "romantic" bedroom for boys, add darker colors, elements of loft, industrial, marine or other styles to the interior.

When choosing the style of the room, you should at least partially take into account the children's opinion on this matter, trying to please everyone as much as possible.

Eco style

The bed in eco style is made of solid wood, preferably with a complex pattern of fibers. The design can be a two-story "house", where each child will have a separate "nest" in which he can retire. The sidewalls are closed with thick curtains with floral patterns, decorative windows can be cut at the ends. The design welcomes a large number of homemade toys, decorative gizmos. Some places in the nursery are stylized for the natural environment - a ladder is made of strong kagyag, a swing is hung on the same crossbar as on a knot. It is better to choose colors tea, vegetable, warm.

If the children's area is located in a cramped studio apartment, the bed can also be separated from the rest of the room by long curtains.

Minimalism

Minimalism differs as simple as the contours, a limited number of colors, the almost complete lack of decor. The bed will be strict, but refined, preferably built-in, with a single-color pastel linen, a ladder of a clear regular shape, without any extra details, inserts. All the rest of the furniture in the room is also chosen very simple, better matte, monophonic, without "frills". In this interior, children of different sex and age will comfortably settle down. A small amount of bright color accents is welcomed, combinations of black with white, yellow with violet, orange with green are preferred.

Tier location

The “floors” of the bed are placed one above the other or shifted to the side - then under the upper tier there is a built-in wardrobe, a child’s workplace. If there is enough space, the lower bunk is located perpendicular to the upper one - crosswise. The two-story construction should be chosen so high that from the top bunk to the ceiling was at least a meter, it was comfortable to sit under it, to clean the bed. The ground floor is wide, collapsible, in its place is often the "study" of the child. Also, from under the bottom of the crib, an additional part can be extended, making the space double.

Bunk beds for two children

When children of different ages, the youngest child usually sleeps on the bottom shelf. To save space, the design is equipped with drawers under the bottom of the lower berth. If the ladder is made with spans, the drawers are located there. Under the upper "floor" are also made compact storage space. The bed can perform the function of zoning - on both sides of it there will be separate play, work places for each of the children. If children are opposite-sex, they are already more than seven years old, then in the room should be equipped with separate places for changing clothes.

Bunk beds for parent and child

In this case, the lower tier can be one and a half, double - while the little man is small, mother can sleep next to him. After there will be more children, the eldest will go to sleep upstairs. In another embodiment, the child sleeps in the lower tier, the parent - at the top. In a modern small studio apartment on a bunk bed will fit a family of three - from the bottom, on a double bed, parents, child upstairs. In case it is a spacious loft bed, then the parents and children will stay at the top upstairs.

In large houses, where there are often many guests, a two-tier structure can be designed entirely for adults. On the lower tier, instead of the usual bed, have a double sofa bed.

Two tier beds for one child use

Bed attic is more suitable for the design of a teenager's bedroom. A big boy, a girl can easily climb up, do not be afraid to sleep on the second "floor". A table for a computer, writing, a built-in wardrobe for clothes, shelves for books, CDs, and souvenirs is mounted under the plane of the bed. The height of a teenage mattress should be 12-15 cm. A younger one will be equipped with a sports, play corner - a slide, tent houses, horizontal bars, and other decorations. It is desirable that the above parts were removed - as the baby grows, they are replaced by others.

Transforming beds

There are such structures, in which the height of the second "floor" is both adjustable in length - the bed grows with the children. In some models, one or both shelves can be raised vertically to the wall during the day - as if on a train, at night being used for sleeping. The bottom in the daytime "turn" into a table, a folding narrow sofa. If there are three children, an additional plane is located under the lower bunk. At night, she moves forward, forming an extra bed, “hides” during the day, the mattress lying on her at night, with the onset of morning, becomes the back, like on a sofa.

Materials used to make bunk beds

From materials traditionally used:

  • various types of wood - they are durable, wear-resistant, durable, look aesthetically pleasing;
  • chipboard - low cost, but will not last long;
  • made of metal - durable, practical, but not suitable for every style;
  • MDF is a beautiful inexpensive option;
  • bent plywood, thick plastic - used for the manufacture of individual parts.

The wood for the bunk bed is selected strong, without falling out knots, burrs, chips, cracks. Preferred: mahogany, oak, beech, spruce, Scandinavian pine, birch, hornbeam. The tree does not release toxins into the environment, but the manufacturer should always require a document on the radiation safety of the material - an environmental certificate. Individual suppliers indicate the place of origin of the lumber.
In the manufacture of particleboard, MDF used woodworking waste, various film materials, formaldehyde resins, many of which have varying degrees of toxicity. Paintwork materials, film coatings should also be chosen as harmless as possible.

As a filler for children's mattresses, various materials are used - coconut, polyester fiber, natural latex. They are necessarily selected hypoallergenic. Covers are preferable from natural fabrics with a resistant color - teak, bamboo fabric. Mattresses need orthopedic, medium hardness.

Convenience and safety

Safety should be taken first and foremost, especially if the children are small. If four children are planned on the bunk bed, the “floors” should be double, and the ladders should be available on both sides. The second floor is equipped with low handrails, handles, handrails, which can be grasped during the descent-ascent.

Depending on the location of the staircase, a two-tier structure is available with:

  • vertical - does not take up extra space, but the most traumatic;
  • Sloping is a bad option for small rooms, so it should be narrow enough, but it will also affect safety;
  • with the "podium" - has drawers under each step, even a baby can climb on it.

Crib, ladder must withstand the weight of any adult - up to 150 kg. Parents will occasionally have to climb there to remove toys, move over bed linen, etc. In the children's furniture, any sharp corners should be avoided - they are the most traumatic. When buying any furniture you need to carefully inspect, check all the fasteners, moving parts - the safety of the product operation directly depends on the quality of the connection of parts. The space around the bunk bed, just in case, should be covered with thick soft rugs - this will reduce the likelihood of serious injury if you fall from the top bunk. Fireproof furniture coatings are also offered by most manufacturers.

“Color security” is a modern term for the color design of the interior to be as harmonious, non-irritating, and calming as possible. Shades are selected taking into account children's preferences, because they, and not parents, will have to live there.

When a two-story cot has carved or too thin legs, the strength of the structure is in question.

Conclusion

A bunk bed will be a real salvation for a close one-room apartment, a small nursery, a room for two or three children. If the kids even more, then the number of double-decker beds increase. Teenagers and tired adults will like to sleep on the "second floor", where no one can get them. Younger interesting to climb up, inventing a variety of games. There are many designer bedroom decorating ideas for two or more children. Save on the purchase of this product is not worth it - the health of young family members is still more expensive.
