How to decorate a vase with your own hands - decoration ideas

Each hostess wants to have an unusual and suitable thing for her interior. It is especially nice when this thing is made with your own hands. Stained glass painting always fascinated me. It turns out that decorating a vase with your own hands at home is possible. The main thing to decide on the degree of complexity of the work and correlate it with their capabilities. If the decoration of the VAZ is new to you, then I advise you to start with simple works. Let's start with a simple technique - the application of geometric patterns.

Geometric patterns

For this job you will need:

  • paint acrylic or stained glass for glass surfaces. You can also use spray paint;
  • brush (use synthetic for acrylic paints, natural - for stained glass);
  • Scotch;
  • alcohol;
  • cotton wool.

Drawing technique:

  1. Degrease the glass surface with alcohol or any degreaser;
  2. Glue the vase with strips of adhesive tape creating a drawing for them;
  3. Paint over the parts without tape, going to him. This is necessary so that the edges of the picture are neat.
  4. We are waiting for the paint to dry. At this time it is better to remove the vase to avoid accidental touching and smearing the paint. Each paint dries differently, read the instructions on the paint package.

In this technique, one can achieve a wide variety of patterns from parallel lines to various intersections. You can also cut out various geometric shapes and stick them on the surface of the item to be decorated. Do not apply a thick layer of acrylic and stained paint to the surface, as this may cause smudges.

For the first job I do not advise choosing rounded shapes, it is more difficult to work with them. Faceted vases fit better. We work with one side, we wait for it to dry completely and proceed to the next. The easiest is to work with spray paint. Apply evenly, spray dries very quickly. As for stained paints, their drying time can be significantly reduced. To do this, just put the painted vase in the oven for 15 minutes at a temperature of 150 degrees.

Proper combination of colors, the use of contrasting colors (white, black, copper, gold) will turn an ordinary object into a real work of art, into a trendy interior decor. And most importantly, the thing done with your own hands will carry your energy.

Piqué technique

This technique came to us from antiquity. A distinctive feature of the peak painting is the size of the dots, the interval between them, the combination and the color scheme.

To paint a vase in this technique, you will need:

  • contour on glass and ceramics;
  • alcohol;
  • cotton wool.

Drawing technique:

  • Degrease the glass surface with alcohol.
  • Apply the contour with a dotted touch.

If you are a novice artist, you can draw a sketch of your drawing on a piece of paper and attach it from the inside.

You can also use ready-made sketches by downloading your favorite picture from the Internet. Before drawing a contour on a vase, test it on a piece of paper. This is done in order to feel its thickness. Only then proceed to the drawing on the vase.

If you go beyond the line, you can quickly correct the defect until the contour has dried out. Wipe off with cotton wool and alcohol and continue to work on. Consider the transparency of the vase, place the picture on the same side or at different levels.

This is necessary so that the image does not overlap. Try to maintain the same interval between points.

For dark glass, a white contour is suitable, and for light glass, black, bronze contours. You can also combine color contours in one job.

Stained glass painting

It is possible to use both a glass vase, and to decorate a bottle.

Stained glass painting on a small round vase

You will need:

  • contour on glass and ceramics;
  • stained paints;
  • alcohol;
  • cotton wool;
  • brush.

Drawing technique:

  1. Degrease the glass surface with alcohol.
  2. We insert a sketch from the inside.
  3. Draw closed contours.
  4. We expect the outlines to dry out for about 2 hours. To speed up the process, use a hairdryer or place a vase in the oven for 10-15 minutes at a temperature of 150 degrees.
  5. Fill the contours.

I used 2 types of fillings in my work: Marabu and Decola. They on a different basis and work accordingly behave differently. Decola paint was in a water-based tube. And Marabu on a spirit basis in a jar and apply it with a brush. It is more liquid and can be mixed to get different shades. It is impossible to mix Decola paint, therefore shades and transitions in one circuit with this material are more difficult to perform. Color transitions can be accomplished by breaking one contour into smaller ones.

Painted floor rainbow vase

Do not leave voids in the contours when painting and make sure that the contours are closed. This is done so that the paint does not leak. I would advise first to take faceted vases as it is easiest to work with them. If you still set about working with a round vase, then try to apply a thin layer of paint to avoid paint leaks.

Vase decor with cloth and ribbons

You will need:

  • tapes;
  • lace;
  • the cloth;
  • glue.

You can make a vase with your own hands. Take a bottle or bottle with a wide neck. Glue on the perimeter of the bottle tape, cloth. The material can be very different.

You can also knit a pattern on the needles or cut from an old knitted sleeve, making a cover on the vase. Instead of ribbons, you can use cords, twine, leather ribbons, twine.

Materials for decoration can be all kinds of. The only limitations can be the size of the bottle and your imagination.

Decor vaz beads

You will need:

  • glue or glue gun;
  • beads strung on a string or individual beads.

You can replace the beads with more natural materials: cereals, watermelon seeds, coffee grains. You can also use pasta, which can be painted with spray paint.

Decoupage

The word decoupage from French literally translates as "cut." In other words, the essence of the decoupage is the execution of the application. In my opinion, this technique is quite simple and does not require special skills.

But you need patience and scrupulousness. To perform work on the decoupage, you must adhere to the following tips.

You will need:

  • glass vase (relief will not work);
  • alcohol or nail polish remover;
  • PVA glue;
  • napkins with a pattern;
  • scissors;
  • acrylic paints;
  • foam sponge;
  • synthetic bristle brush;
  • varnish for glass surfaces (to fix the image).

Technique of work:

  1. Grind the surface of the vase with alcohol or nail polish remover.
  2. Ground the surface. Using a sponge, apply acrylic paint. The color of the paint is chosen to tone the lighter image. Paint applied in 2-3 layers.
  3. Cut out the ornament from the napkin.
  4. Glue the image on the vase. We put a dry image on a napkin to the bottle and iron it with a brush with glue. Remove all air bubbles from under the napkins.
  5. After drying napkins apply varnish to secure the image. Apply 2-3 layers.
    Replace the napkin can be on the photo. It is necessary to soak it in water and remove excess paper (detach or roll). Also in this technique, you can use journal clippings, printed image. If the paper is too thick, varnish it and soak it in water to remove excess paper.

Decoration of a vase with natural material

You can decorate a vase with chopsticks, branches of trees, cutting them along its height and securing it with a thread around a circle.

Sand vase decoration

You will need:

  • glue;
  • sand;
  • brush.

Technique of work:

  1. Apply glue to the glass vase.
  2. Sprinkle it with sand.

You can use egg shells, shells and sea stones that are attached to the vase with clay. As well as the bark of trees, dried leaves and flowers.

In practice, mixed techniques are used to obtain the best result. For example, combining decoupage framed with twine or woven straw cord.

As a decor to use sea stones, clay and corrugated leather, creating unusual bas-reliefs.
Do not be afraid to experiment with materials and maybe you will find solutions and inspirations completely unexpected for yourself.
